Changing/ making rules on the spot (enderpearl pushing)
So boxes made a new rule that we cant push people into thorn using enderpearls even though in the old pvp days a rule was made saying pushing into pvp is fine because its your own fault. Not only is this changing a rule when people have been doing it and when I start doing it they change the rule. If its a part of the game it should be allowed. Just dont stand on the ledge and dont use it to destroy miniscule amounts to peoples armour.. I believe there should at least be a vote HERE on the forums as some cannot get on mumble all the time.

I agree with this decision. Why do you want to kill unsuspecting players? Also, do VIPs have access to a private forum? If so, this discussion is better suited to there until a decision is made to open it to a community vote.

Alright then. Let me make sure I have another thing straight. Did they actually have a rule, in writing, saying it was okay to push people into PvP areas? Or was it just something people did that no one really said anything against?

Korthic himself said that its your own fault for getting pushed in. It wasn't a written rule like many others which people are oblivious to but yes, it was a rule and now has been changed.

I think I understand more fully now. Let me explain something to you regarding administering and moderating a video game server that will hopefully put your mind at ease about this whole situation:
Being a mod is roughly 30% about enforcing established rules and precedents, and 70% about making judgment calls in the moment.
This means that Korthic was right, and so was Boxes. In the situation Korthic saw, it may fully have been someone's fault for letting themselves get pushed in, and since Korthic was the presiding authority on the server at the time, his word was law.
However, in this new situation, Boxes was also right, in that what you were doing was likely unfair, and not in the spirit of the established principles of the server, which include fair play and respect of other players.
Bottom line: Boxes was the ranking moderator online at the time, and it was his call to make. He wasn't establishing a new rule if I understand the situation correctly, he was merely making a judgment call in that situation based on the principles of the server.
This is also why there are so few Admins/community managers on the server: In order to be an admin, you need to have trustworthy judgment in line with the goals of the server. This is much more difficult to find than someone who you can hand a list of do's and don'ts to and tell them to enforce it. It's the difference between a cop and a judge.

Re: Changing/ making rules on the spot (enderpearl pushing)
My problem is not the fact that people are being pushed in. it is the fact that enderpearls do 1 durability of damage everytime they hit someone. for information reasons it would take 241 enderpearls to break a piece of iron armor, and 529 enderpearls to break a piece of diamond armor.
i was able during testing to throw 64 enderpearls at someone and hit them with 62 of them in about 3 minutes so its not unreasonable to see that if someone were to just walk away to go get food that usually takes about 5 to ten minutes and during that time someone could break most of your armor and make you easier to kill when you get back
I dont really care if someone gets pushed into an arena that just means the arena need to be better so people cant do that. the main thing i am worried about is the fact that people will use enderpearls to hurt someone elses armor on purpose. THAT is why i made the rules of no pushing with enderpearls.

Re: Changing/ making rules on the spot (enderpearl pushing)
Being physically pushed Vs. Enderperal knockback is different as well.
When someone used to be able to walk up and shove you around, you were also going to be in the pvp, Melee swing area. And they knew it. With an enderperal you can a jerk, knock someome in, and never be seen until you land.

So if you are woried about the damage then why not change the rule to no using uless in pvp or to knock people. (cannot use in safe zone unless on steps into arena etc)
