Bukkit and 1.8

looks like Bukkit is now fully owned by Mojang. what that means for the server is not fully understood yet but it sounds like someone will actually be paid to update it so it might be released on time for once. which is something they have been saying for the past 5 or so updates to minecraft so we will see what happens.

Well....it looks like Mojang owned it for the last 2.5 years. Original developer tried to shut it down today and Mojang said no. At this point if Mojang completely takes over than we might have to shut down completely and most of the multiplayer community too. I'm somewhat pessimistic about it since I think with current EALU changes and now this they are just trying to control money making aspect of it and being greedy. So I guess we will see very soon.

More drama on bukkit forums and twitter, now the bukkit administrator quit too, seems like pretty much no more bukkit unless Mojang update it themselves

Dinnerbone did say that he was going to port Bukkit to 1.8 himself so we should be good for the next couple of month but what Mojang does over the next couple of days will decide the future of minecraft and Bukkit since the current leads of bukkit are leaving so the people Mojang hired last year will need to work on it again.

i cant log in??? i did not even download 1.8 i guess it did it on its own and now the server says we are still 1.7 and i cant enter. when will the server be updated???

The server wont be updated until bukkit updates, and whether or not bukkit will be updated, and how it will be done is a mystery so far. and also, on the server launcher, in the bottom left, hit edit profile, go down to "Use Version:" and select 1.7.10, then save profile. then you should be back on 1.7.10.
