Amplified Terrain

Post by XlXDaltonXlX »

In Minecraft 1.7 there is an option for Amplifying the terrain changing the way the whole world generates so that some biomes will even generate to and above cloud level. I believe this will give the world a more characteristic flare that Minecraft, IMO, so very dastardly needs.

I think that if we enable Amplified terrain(World-type: AMPLIFIED in the server config) it would add builders a more organic way to build using bridges acrossed gaps building into cliff walls or building acrossed mountaintops above cloud level to bring out the best in some of the ways that people build.

I Know that I for one will be coming back to Minecraft Junkie as well as several of my friends who have quit in ages past to enjoy the new world that will be MCJ 1.7 and if the world could be LARGEBIOMES or AMPLIFIED it would just increase the feel that this really is a whole new world to explore rather than an random spattering if little areas that are not large enough to build a manor in let alone a city.

Please Consider.

I completely support this idea. Minecraft with amplified biomes would create a more lively and exciting world for people who have lost their enthusiasm for playing the game.

I would probably come back if this was implemented. Minecraft is really boring at its current state and I think this would make it A LOT more interesting.

I think it's a good idea as long as we don't get the same problems we did in that one factions world where we started screwing with the terrain (major chunk errors, land around 20y, etc.)

EDIT: IGNORE THIS POST I THOUGHT AMPLIFIED MEANT A SELECT FEW BIOMES WERE EXTREME HILLS 2.0

Yea, when we did factions world it was extra plugin and changes were very extreme on purpose. I think this function is built in now so should be pretty smooth I think.

Fair warning, the built in like, Mountainous terrain can lag most computers SO badly. I actually can't play on my laptop at all in those worlds, and my main PC doesn't handle it well when I try to run around.

I love how it forms, for things like mountain bases. But there's no flat area, and lots of places to fall off of when you lag.

amplified worlds amplify all terrain not just some biomes, it's not the best thing in the world, its more like a map pack built for an epic survival game with smart moving. The biomes are constant EXTREME hills, flat land is non-existent. It will be harder for people to build but yes a creative challenge. Take into consideration that not all people will enjoy this game type at all.( the more a chunk contains the harder it is to play) this has been my view of amplified biomes

Taking back my vote for our 1.7 world being an Amplified one. I was under the impression that an Amplified World meant that more biomes were an improved Extreme Hills. Lol. Nope. Every single biome is Extreme Hills on steroids. There is no flat land, MAYBE you could find a few plots of 7x7 flat land but other than that terraforming is going to take days upon days for basic flat houses. It would be a very different game and I'm not sure everyone would like that.

Also, Nico is right, this world is extremely taxing on my computer, I imagine a large portion of our playerbase would not be able to play at all.

I know you don't like this suggestion, Kommy, but maybe if this Amplified world was in yet another world? Like we could have the normal 1.7 world and then an Amplified one? That's the only way I can see this being a plausible idea to add to the server. Either that or if somehow you could only apply it to specific biomes and we could have one or two with that terrain speckled among the rest of the mostly normal biomes.

If so many people have an issue with AMPLIFIED worlds then Ill go ahead and redact that as my suggestion... but STILL LARGEBIOMES OR BUST!
