This is something that should be looked into. It's gotten to the point where people can no longer explore new chunks without nearly crashing the server. This is going to become a huge problem if it's not fixed by 1.7, because everyone will want to find the new canyon and redwood biomes.

It's been fixed already. We were running dev bukkit, so that we can have an updated server. Sadly, that can cause some issues.
