About 3:00 AM CST (~11 hours ago as of the time of this post), I was logged into the server enchanting items. I was at my xp farm letting the mobs build up and I fell asleep while waiting. So I got kicked off after 30 minutes. However, upon reentering the server about 30-45 minutes ago, I noticed that my entire inventory was gone.
Upon closer inspection, I noticed that a couple of the zombies in my xp farm were wearing diamond armor and holding items. So I start killing them and when they're all dead, I see that I've got 6 diamonds, a chestpiece, boots, a couple swords. All of them were items that I had in my inventory. So I suspect that I must have died from hunger during my sleep. However, when I logged back in, I still had the 28 levels that I had when I fell asleep. So if I had died, why did I not lose my levels? And if I didn't die, why did my inventory clear out and why did some of the zombies have some of my items?
Items lost that I can remember:
- About a stack of sticks (pfft, who cares?)
- A couple of enchanted diamond swords (nothing too fancy thankfully)
- Enchanted diamond helm (aqua affinity and something else) and enchanted diamond leggings (can't remember the enchantment, maybe Protection III)
- Multiple enchanted diamond picks (Lost my awesome silk touch pick. Also had unbreaking III, eff IV on it . And lost an unbreaking III and unbreaking III/eff IV picks. And my unbreaking III, eff IV, and fortune III pick. So yeah, the picks are where I was hit the hardest).
- Enchanted diamond axe (can't remember the enchants, it wasn't anything great).
That's all that I can remember other than some pieces of steak and melon but that doesn't matter to me.
Now, obviously, all of these items are just gone. It is 100% my fault for playing while tired when there's a chance that I could just nod off. So, anything that happened to my character while I was asleep is 100% on me because I was logged into the server. It sucks because so much was lost but that is on me. Normally, I wouldn't carry all of that around but some of it is my usual mining gear and others are what I had enchanted recently so it's just really bad timing for me that this happened.
However, it is very odd that something happened to me that would cause me to lose my items but not to make me lose my levels. I'm guessing at this point that it was some kind of glitch. But what would have caused it, I don't know.
The point of this post? To bring attention to the fact that this occurred and to have staff look into what exactly happened in case this is a bug/glitch in hopes that it can be fixed so that it doesn't happen to others. As for me, I just want to know how this happened. I know the items are lost so I'm not expecting to get anything back. I'm just really stumped as to how I could have lost my items but kept my levels.
Going to end this here because it's long enough as it is and there's really not much else I can add to it. Thanks in advance for those who look into this.
And thanks to Caldavas. He was on the server when I noticed and he tossed a couple swords and some ores my way just to be nice. Thanks man.

And Gman, if you see this before I run across you in the server, I did not lose what I enchanted for you last night. I had that stored in a chest, thankfully.

That's what I was thinking. But the main thing that's bothering me about that is that I still had all of my levels. So if I had died, those should have disappeared, or at least severely lowered. Instead, I was at level 28 when I logged in. That's what is confusing me about the situation.rocky535 wrote:Probably died then got dced for 30m afk

there is a bug THAT PEOPLE SHOULD NOT DO ON PURPOSE that when you die and log out instead of respawning then log back in you get all your levels back.

Ahh, that completely explains it then. I'm more than willing to give 28 levels worth of experience if there's a way to take it away since I should have lost it to begin with.
