If you see server down , it is me trying to update it to 1.2 by using bukkit beta.
Please do not update your client, because this might not work

Yes, check the front page for server status every time, so you can see if its offline or online.
Also, if you update the client, make sure you have the way to revert it to previous version, so in case of a very buggy server we revert back to the older version, you have a way to do it also.

for those of you that don't know how to backup your older version of minecraft here is how:

Windows:
Open a folder (my computer)
in the address bar at the top type in %appdata% hit enter
go into the .minecraft folder
go into the bin folder
copy your minecraft.jar to a new folder or rename it (minecraftOnePointOne.jar)
Now open minecraft and update.

If you want to go back to 1.1 then just go back in, delete or rename your updated minecraft.jar and put the old minecraft.jar back or if you renamed the old, then rename it back to minecraft.jar

Mac:
Get a real PC idiot
