GeForce Now Introduces 100-Hour Monthly Playtime Cap for New Subscribers

Nvidia has announced that starting in 2025, GeForce Now will cap monthly playtime at 100 hours for new subscribers, with an option to purchase additional hours if needed. Nvidia's cloud gaming platform, launched in February 2020 after a long beta phase, has gained popularity by allowing users to stream games they already own from digital stores like GOG, Epic Games Store, and Steam. Some Xbox Game Pass titles are also streamable on the service, which has steadily expanded its catalog.

Unlike an online storefront, GeForce Now acts as a streaming service, offering cloud access to existing game libraries rather than selling games directly. Integration with Xbox.com, launched in July, has made it easier for players to choose between Nvidia’s streaming service and Xbox Cloud Gaming when launching supported Xbox PC games.

GeForce Now is available in three subscription tiers: an ad-supported free tier, the newly renamed "Performance" tier (formerly "Priority") for gaming at up to 1440p with RTX, and the "Ultimate" tier, which supports 4K HDR, 240 FPS, and RTX 4080 graphics. Beginning next year, new users in the Performance and Ultimate tiers will have a 100-hour monthly playtime cap, with additional hours purchasable in 15-hour increments for $2.99 (Performance) or $5.99 (Ultimate). Additionally, up to 15 hours of unused playtime will roll over to the following month.

Nvidia asserts that this cap will suffice for 94% of current GeForce Now users. The service monitors each user's playtime, viewable through the account portal. Current members and those who sign up before December 31, 2024, will be exempt from this cap throughout 2025, offering unrestricted playtime for existing subscribers.
