1.8 temp server votes!!!!!

Nothing in our current world will be lost, this is just so we can enjoy the features of 1.8 together while bringing more players to the server, while we wait for plugins to work however they will work in whatever way that i will most definitely not understand.

I felt as though this had to be a separate thread to the other.

i wonder if it would be possible to have two servers up at the same time. one being a vanilla 1.8 world and the other being the normal worlds.

he is talking about what happens with every temp server in that the world is gone after we are done with it. I have heard that 1.8 has some optimizations with it and playing around with it for about 5 minutes i can see that the world loads a ton faster around you.

so a good question for this would be would the 1.8 world be on a separate port or have the current 1.7 world on a different port.

Im thinking put 1.7 on a separate port. That way new people do not get confused. People that like the old world usually veterans and they would know to switch the port.

But just to be clear? The 1.7 map is the map we will keep having after we Actually update bukkit? After we update to 1.8 we will use the current 1.7 map in 1.8?
So all the stuff we have and builds we've built wont be lost?
If we are planning on getting a new map, please let us transfer stuff from the old map to the new.

unless Dinnerbone can rewrite most of the bukkit code then they would not be able to update it to 1.8 due to legal issues. yes the current 1.7 world will be turned into the 1.8 world when either bukkit or Sponge releases a 1.8 server software.

What Boxes said, we have no plans of loosing the existing world, considering that we got it last year to replace 4 year old world. Either way we keeping it.
