That link has some important info about whats changing for 1.8 dealing with name changing and the switch to UUID or "Universally Unique IDentifier" that means that plugins will now ban a persons ID instead of just the name that way if someone is banned and changes there name they will still be banned. that also means that that each plugin will need to update to change how they work.

The types of plugins that will likely be affected include (but are not limited to): permissions, region protection, world protection, chest protection, ownership, teleportation, economy, chat, and ban management plugins.

so basically 2/3 of our plugins will be affected by this but good for us is that all of them are very major plugins that most bukkit servers use so if they dont update then a ton of people will be angry at them about it.

This also means that when 1.8 comes out they say that people will be able to change the name that they use.

This also means that chances are updating the server after this patch will take a while. Members need to be patient and don't ask everyday when the server will be updated.

I'm honestly not looking forward to name changing. I used to play on a server that allowed people to change their display names at will, and people started doing it every other day and it became impossible to keep track of who was who. I really hope the players in this server keep that to a minimum, or else the place is going to get pretty annoying.
