I think it may be advantageous, lag-wise, to turn off the rain again.

Hmm I like the idea of it turned on as it makes for a more natural feel of Minecraft.

If you're having trouble with lag due to weather I suggest installing optifine. There is a setting in it that allows you to disable weather client side. So you can't see/hear the rain.

The newest optifine's weather setting does not work.
