In the 1.8 world I keep getting this on my screen spammed then I die. Is there something Im doing wrong that causes this?

That has happened to me when i first spawned a few times for further reference

This is probably from the Jack-o-Death Precious Stones.. if you place down a jacko lantern it will do damage to people around them, half a heart at a time. So watch out for them.. you can read more about them in the SMP Help section of the forums.
