Strange happenings in default spawn...

So I was harvesting some Endstone and doing some PVP hunting today. I came back and went through default spawn to drop my load off at the mall, and came across this:
I have no idea where it came from, I have no idea where the snow behind it came from. Logblock tells me nothing. The portal doesn't go anywhere. It's just... there. And it wasn't there earlier today.
