Where do you see that he said that? He only said, after he gets feedback from users testing 1.8 at PAX he would fix things and then release it. He also just confirmed that 5 hours ago posting it again on his twitter "1.8 is not done, we need to tweak a few things based off feedback at PAX". So I doubt he will have it ready this week. It will probably be released sometime in the next few weeks.

Lol yeah I can't wait for it to come I have been watchin videos and reading up on it for awhile.. this update is going to be awesome

I absolutely love 1.8. NPC villages a new mob different mossy melons criticals hunger bar. Just one thing, are there gonna be ENDERMAN spawners in dungeons? And what do enderman drop? This may be the start of a whole new mob item gained.

Currently Enderman drop diamonds but Notch said that will most likely be changed.

EDIT: Endermen drop Enders Pearls.
Now what the heck is an Enders pearl.
EDIT AGAIN: If an Ender Pearl is in your inventory, looking at a enderman won't get it to attack.
