I just want to point something out... If only 9 people have voted on Kolo's survaymonkey then I'm sure that means only 9 people are looking at this thread which isn't, how should I say it... a good thing for our forums and this kind of thread

I think Open World PVP should stay. There's nothing wrong with having it, we just have some problems that need to be addressed.
1. Residence/protection. Why aren't more people using it? Do you not know how? Then we need to get together and work on a simple, easy to use guide, and tell everybody about it. Is the problem that it costs too much money for you to protect all your structures? Then we should see how we can go about having Staff residence areas for members (Like what was done for Adickurig), or perhaps lowering the price for residences. Yes, it's down to $0.30, but when you're trying to select a large Y-plane to cover everything above and below you, it adds up pretty quick.
2. Teleporting. Is there any plugin we can find that say, turns off PVP from a member that's teleported in the past 5-10 minutes? The teleporting rules seem to be a bit too complicated, why not try and find something to fix that?
3. Staff members. Clearly there is too much confusion about staff members (VIP thru Admin) and when it's okay to PVP them. I've been asking this for a while: Let's get a plugin that toggles PVP damage for staff members. That way, members can attack us whenever they want, and it won't matter cause if we're toggled we won't be hit, and if we're not it's open season. I'm sure we could add a warm-up/cool-down to it so we couldn't just flip it on in the middle of a battle.

I don't know why but I feel I should thank you Count. There are problems that need to be address. Cutting off PvP completely would solve them in one swift swoop but some of these problems can be dealt with to make PvP enjoyable, or at least tolerable, to everybody. People shall complain when they lose stuff (Everyone member and up must deal with this no matter how much we hate complainers) but how they kill them may cause even more complaining and further complaining if the person gets away with it or not.I'm sure I probably did not need to add any of the extra stuff besides the thank you but, oh well.So now in order to address these problems I guess the best course of action is for everyone to do research and find a way to address these problems with plugins and configurations and tell them to Korthic and Kommy (preferably Korthic)

Addressing the Residence Issue: A good idea I thought of was you the /rules command? Can't we set up something so that someone could type in a command and ,after reading, know how to set up a residence? Then we could have a sign at spawn saying to use that command to find out how to protect your house.

Count I have said it before, allowing VIP+ to turn off pvp will just confuse people as much as before. They will see them and think OH i can go hit them, then they do and nothing happens. So the next time they see them coming at them they dont do anything and then the VIP cuts them to pieces. Maybe after the mod API changes we can have something that shows near someones name above there head whether they are flagged for pvp

Love your ideas!
My thoughts:
1) I enjoy my residence now that I have used it. Using it though to secure my small area resulted in 20k in money. That doesn't include the air above and land below. So I tried to Res smaller areas to save money and you only have a three res limit (which I understand why). Just for reference a small 16x16 res from bedrock to the sky is just under $9,000. If you increase it to a more likely 32x32 it jumsp big time to just about $40,000. Not to mention the new map height it being increased with the next update, making them even more expensive.
2) I agree with the TP rules. This will suppress the tp kill whines. I would know then if i see someone near my area and I decided to PVP them, they are fair game. And if they teleported then they just won't be damaged. Maybe not 5-10 minutes but maybe 2-3.
3) The toggle for staff would be great. If a staff member would say come to help me with something they would turn off PVP for them and assist me. During this time I wouldn't be able to attack them nor would they be able to attack me.
