DoctorScurvy, the pirate island would be much too big to carry over. Miniguns has created a temporary spawn point that I believe we're porting into the 1.7 world. Once it's open to all of us then we'll start creating a more official spawn. It'll be just like when we made this "New World" in the Adventure Update.

The moment any announcement is made to the tune of keeping The End or Nether, people will start carting their possessions over and storing them in locked chests in those worlds. Sad as I would be to see the endspawners gone, I think it's pretty essential that they be redone too.

I'm aware. Which it why I'm leaning towards a reset.

guys one solution to that problem is to use mcedit, you can replace certain blocks with other blocks, so you could say replace chests with air blocks and it should work great. i dont know how to do it but i know boxes has some experience with mcedit i also found a post on the minecraft wiki on how to do it. if you guys think its a good idea and want to do it i can post the link.

It's easy to replace the chest. One world edit command would cover it compleletly. However, if we reset, that means the the end stone wouoldn't be dug out all over the place. It means that the obsidian pillars would be back to normal. Resetting the nether would mean you don't have to take another stargate, then travel 100+ blocks to find a single ore block.

Deleting chests wouldn't work, Brian. If we deleted all Chests in the Nether/End to deter people from storing their stuff there, then we'd also have to worry about Trapped Chests, Furnaces, Dispensers, Droppers, Hoppers, Brewing Stands, the untraceable Minecart Chests/Hoppers, people just outright placing their items on the ground...it can't work. We have two options: allow people to take all their items via the Nether, or reset the Nether and allow them to bring a single chest through MCJ admins.
Honestly, it wouldn't be that bad an idea. We're not really getting a clean slate anyways with our single chest rule. I've been looking at some of the chests people have put together, you guys are bringing over a TON of valuable stuff. Some of you have like five STACKS of Diamond Blocks. 2880 diamonds * 1000 = nearly three million iConomy dollars in 5/27 slots. Then there's the stacks of Iron Blocks, Gold Blocks, god-tier enchanted tools and armor...we're about as far from a clean slate as we can possibly get. All the endgame valuable items people put hours into this game to earn -- they're already in the chests. I don't see how bringing over building material would hurt anything.

Is there a specific place for the chests to go? I've just been making one up and messaging the coordinates.

So basically I have no reason to play until the reset happens, because I was working on a project that probably wouldn't have been finished til February at least. No point in continuing that thing if I'm just going to lose it all.
I might go on sometime this week just to make a transfer chest, but there's a chance that after losing everything I've built I might not feel like returning for a long while, if ever. I hate to make it sound like this is the worst thing in the world, but I put a lot of time into this server and I'm really upset to learn that it's all going away without question. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of other players decide not to return after losing everything as well.
It's gonna take forever to get back to a point where I could begin trying to rebuild my redstone gauntlet.

@awesome It sucks, I know. Everyone's going to lose a lot. But it wasn't "without question" the mention has been floating around for months now. And our staff team has talked about since the first time it was brought up.
Try not to see it as, you're losing all of your progress, or that you'll not get it done. Set it as a time limit. Go FINISH it. If it's resourses you're lacking, people are giving stuff away like crazy now, using the motto of, "I can't take it with me, let someone else enjoy it!" You say it wouldn't be finished until February, See if you can push it to January. There's still a lot of time left before things get cleared. Make the best of it.
