V.I.P Applications

Hello everyone I have a suggestion towards the V.I.P applications. In my opinion i think that the server should have a nonstop forum post for V.I.P applications. If any off the admins or staff see one they like, they can promote the owner of the post! This would create more V.I.Ps which could lead to more staff. with more V.I.Ps/ staff there would be a more responsible/respectful community.

After a few weeks, we open the applications up, otherwise only when we have the need of VIPs.
Creating a complete and total open application would cause a flood of players who do not deserve VIP and we would also have to depress the people who would not have made it. We would also not just glance at a post and say "I want that man to be VIP!", we have to observe in game.

Being a member of staff (VIP+) isn't easy, it's time consuming and causes great annoyance, sometimes it may waste our time, other times it may be of great importance.

Eh. Personally I think having those useless posts would assist us in finding good candidates for VIP. People who make bad applications would show up front that they aren't qualified for the position. I see nothing wrong with having a constantly open VIP app thread. Some of them are funny as hell. An open thread doesn't mean we'll actually promote anyone. As long as we make it clear that users are not to bombard our staff ingame if they've looked at their app yet, I think it should be open.

Yeah, exactly. Although I do find our current setup, which I think that we should reopen in a couple days.
Also, I see a problem that would probably annoy the hell out of Korthic:

I agree with you on how they help us, and I think that it WOULD help us, but I see no reason to open a complete and 100% open thread to all users to post their applications, if this is going to happen I would think we need to re-post the rules of applying for VIP every once and a while so we don't get multiple posts from people, which I saw that we didn't state (Unless of course they posted on each re-opening of the applications).

Another major thing that should most likely be stated if this even is established, do not bug anyone in-game that is a member of the staff team (VIP+) when asking "When will VIPs be chosen" (Don't spam the staff with this), or "DID I GET CHOSEN?".

So yeah, I mostly agree with you Count. I was pointing some cons of it when we re-open it and never lock it. Also I was stating that we don't just pick a person from the list for VIP.

I like it the way we have it, when we left the VIP application thread open and people kept posting to it, none of the posts made me want to add anyone. We don't choose based on the posts only.

Easiest way to VIP rank is:

• We need to know and trust you in the game
  You need to be active on the server, forums and Mumble
  You need to be a respected member of the community
  You need to be Helpful

Follow that list exactly and you will be VIP in no time.

Well then we'd just re-write the VIP app rules. Make "do not ask about your VIP application", or something to that effect, one of the rules, and if anyone is bugging staff about it then they're disqualified for it.

And as for reposting the thread, I don't see why we'd have to do this and spread it among lots of threads. Just have one constantly open thread, maybe make a rule saying players can only post an application once every two months, which I don't think is too unreasonable. The server, community, and the player itself can change a LOT over a two month period.

But yeah, under the current system a constantly open thread just wouldn't work. We just need to update the rules and the application itself, which haven't been touched for months and months. And yeah, of course we don't need to pick someone from the list as a VIP. Of course we'll pick someone on our own if we all agree they should be promoted. The list is to make people, who are interested in helping out more, to have their names noticed. There are tons of great players on our server that just slide under the radar because they don't boast about all the good things they do. The VIP app lets us notice them.

EDIT: In response to Korthic, the VIP has almost never acted as a system where you apply and it's chosen based off the application. All four of those things are our qualifiers for VIP, but not everyone might know them. If we see a VIP app and start watching a previously unnoticed player, we can help steer them in the right direction to qualifying for VIP.

Currently it seems that there are not many active vips on. Maybe 5 at most but there are times when no vips are on and no staff. There hasn't been many staff on the past few days and with only a few active vips it creates times when there are no VIP+ on. Also Xero, Korthic said that a way to help get VIP was being active on server, forums and mumble. I know in your openion it's not manditory but, that's what I was getting at yesterday.
