So it's no secret that the server has been quite laggy off and on lately, and we don't exactly know what's causing it. It seems to have to do with stuff being loaded into the server RAM, as it is alleviated with a server restart. However, when it does happen, it is VERY frustrating. Broken blocks reappear, players get pushed around, and mobs act downright weird. Sometimes they don't spawn, sometimes they spawn and move slow, and sometimes they go from moving slow to going at hyperspeed.
Now, this presents a problem for players who frequently need to repair tools, as experience becomes very hard to come by (due to mobs not spawning) and very easy to lose (due to death by the above issues). So, until we get this issue fully nailed down, I motion that we lax some of the restrictions regarding the use of creative mode, particularly around the granting of experience.
At least consider the idea, just for the duration of the problem. I feel like it would go a long way toward keeping frustrations to a minimum until a resolution is found.

Nope. This will cause more problems than it solves. If you're worried about repairing things, put them in a chest on the side and wait it out.

Re: Just a simple suggestion regarding server lag.
I will be working on the server this week. I will try the latest update and will start eliminating some plugins to see if there is one that taking the server down.
I've been checking on the server for the last couple of weeks and seems like CPU constantly running at close to 80 percent which never happened before.
Last thing we added were some Citizens plugin options and no lag plugin.
If these 2 plugins are the reason server is maxing out, well... we might have to eliminate some things.

The irony would be palpable if nolagg is causing this

Re: Just a simple suggestion regarding server lag.
oh trust me... the irony is not lost on me.
Here is my server running resume:
Half LIfe, HL2, TFC
Counter Strike, CS source,
Fortress Forever,
TF2, BF, BF2, FarCry,
bunch of other stuff that I'm forgetting
but so far minecraft is the most complicated and horribly running server software out of any server I ever ran.
So Im not surprised when an anti lagg plugin actually causes the whole server to crap out. What else is new.

Most of the time no lag plugins or mods for just about anything, don't work, or make the "problem" worse. But yeah, I bet you that is the problem.DoctorScurvy wrote:The irony would be palpable if nolagg is causing this

Another part of a plugin that needs to be looked at is Craftbook Circuits.
lots of lag showed up after the vips started placing them near there houses.

adding more evidence to my post is that fact that today we removed all the Circuit that we could find and the lag was extremly lower then a couple of days ago even with about 18 people on.
